Wafer-Thin Speaker or Digital Rat Maze?If I could afford theseceramic substrate speakers, a collaboration between japanese design firm Nendo and artistMitsuke Masagasu, I would probably build a shrine around them. Then again, in all likelihood, I could never afford 'em.
Part of the Revalue Nippon Project, a curated art exhibit at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Japan, these 1mm-thick speakers were made from ceramic substrate and constructed entirely by robot components. The intricate designs of Mitsuke were chosen to remind us "of the limits of the human hand." In other words, it's an ominous reminder that the robots will soon take over.
