How to Enable iOS AirPrint Support in OS X Right Now

With AirPrint shared printer support suddenly absent from Apple's recent OS X 10.6.5 update, iOS printing support is severely crippled. If you want to ensure you'll be able to use shared printing on your iOS device, here's how.
Several developers have discovered that support for iOS printing wasn't disabled when they updated to the stable release of 10.6.5 due to a few files still hanging around from the 10.6.5 beta release already installed on their machines. It didn't take long for people to discover which files provided AirPrint support and HardMac quickly put a guide together.
The process is very simple. You download the relevant files (download link via HardMac) and copy them into three specific locations:
- /usr/libexec/cups/filter/urftopdf
- /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.convs
- /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.types
Once you do that, restart your Mac and re-add any printers you want to share. That's all there is to it, and it'll ensure you'll have AirPrint support in OS X once iOS 4.2 is released to the public.
